This computer offers everything a computer 3 times the price can. My 18 year old daughter wanted a MacBook Pro. I was unwilling to spend that kind of money for a laptop so I did a lot of research and with the help of the many reviews I read from others who had purchased this laptop, I chose this one. Well, my daughter was dissapointed for a half a second because when she turned this one on she raved about how great it was and was even better than the Mac. The screen display was impressive and 2 months later and she still "loves it'! I never told her the price ;)

I was looking for an affordable, reasonably fast, easy to use PC for my wife. I found the Gateway NE56R34u 15.6" laptop at a great price at amazon.com. As usual with amazon.com, delivery was quick. The PC worked right out of the box, which is always a good sign. The 15.6" screen is perfect, and the performance is just right. It came with Windows 8, which takes a little getting used to. There is no user manual, but there is a cheat sheet that comes with the unit. It is very helpful, but not needed once you get the hang of the Windows 8 user interface. I highly recommend this PC to anyone looking for a moderately priced unit that does the job.

I bought this computer on sale for under $300.00 locally but thought I would review it here also. One big plus is that it comes with 4G memory in ONE slot so you can upgrade another 4g. I bought a 4g stick for under $20.00 and put it in the available slot, very easy. I wiped wind blows 8 off the drive and installed Linux Mint 13 with no problems. I have been using this set-up for a couple of weeks and it's solid and very fast.
